Hi I’m Nicola. I’m a qualified Integrative Therapist. This means my understanding of theoretical approaches gives me the flexibility to respond to you as an individual and choose techniques based on your needs and preferences.
I always embody the Core Conditions of Person Centred Therapy. This means I will be focused on how you experience life and the world and remain closely connected to what you share with me throughout, trusting in your innate ability to realise what’s right for you. I will be honest about things I pick up on and feelings I notice in the room. I will want the best outcomes for you irrespective of anything you tell me about your faults or behaviours. You don’t have to be a perfect person to be accepted.
Counselling is not the same as giving advice. I won’t tell you what I think and what to do. As much as this can feel like what you need sometimes, it wouldn’t be helpful. I can help you pay attention to your inner voice, which somewhere along the way you may have been taught to silence. You hold the answers within yourself and it is my job to help you tease them out. I will listen to you with acceptance because all of you is acceptable.
I am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists and abide by their code of ethics.
I have professional indemnity insurance.
