Loss, grief and bereavement
I am a trained and experienced bereavement counsellor. I have worked with many people who are struggling after someone has died, but loss and grief are not always about death. Throughout our lives we have to manage endings and goodbyes. Some of these are sudden but even the expected or planned ones can cause long periods of reflection, longing and sadness as well as uncomfortable feelings like guilt and anger. External demands can make us ignore how upset we are. We try to “get over it” because “life goes on”. I know that working through loss is much more complicated, deeper and slower than we are usually allowed to acknowledge. Whatever it is – a job, a bereavement, a home, a relationship, you can be real about it with me. I will not dismiss how hard it is for you.
