Counselling for children and young people

If you are reading this as a parent you are at the coalface of nurturing your child or young person in a balancing act of holding them safe & letting them grow. You want nothing to hurt them but you can’t control the world. One of the ways you can help your child or young person is by organising them to have therapy with someone who will give them a non-judgemental space to explore what matters to them. With me this experience will be validating & empower them to find ways forward by making sense of their feelings & using their strengths to make positive change.

If your child is aged up to 9 we will use a variety of creative play techniques to help them share their feelings. Older children will be able to take more lead on what works for them but often games, crafts & conversations about music & interests will help them open up. Teenagers may engage in more traditional talking therapy but even with them (& adults) leaning into creativity can communicate just as effectively as words.

If you are reading this as a young person this can be your time separate from school & home where you can be yourself. We will go at your pace & depending on your needs I can offer you information & coping strategies for things like stress, anxiety, low mood, relationship challenges, bereavement, feelings about the future or feelings about yourself. Your counselling is confidential unless I have worries about you or someone you tell me about.
